Game Fishing and Shooting

For the game sports man and woman,  Woodlyn offers secure storage for up to 6 shotguns with ammunition.  

Scotland is famous for the quality of its sport shooting and the professional way in which sporting days are managed and conservation practices are undertaken and there are a number of locations nearby that offer clay pigeon shoots all year round. Scotland, and especially the rivers in Dumfries and Galloway are famous for the well stocked game fish. Rivers in this large county offer a tremendous variety of first class sport. Galloway is famed for its brown trout, but also gets good runs of sea trout and salmon in the late summer, and earlier if the rivers gets the water. More details can be found here at FishPal

Sea Fishing

The area around Loch Ryan and the coasts of Portpatrick down to the Mull of Galloway is famed for its sea fishing. Over 20 sea fishing records have been claimed by anglers fishing this area.

The coastline around Kirkcudbright and its surrounding area is also well known as being very productive for shore fishing.

Hill Walking and Sightseeing

Scotland, especially Dumfries and Galloway has some spectacular scenery and wildlife. All you need is a little patience and a spot of luck.
